Hide your CSS from Netscape 4. September 14, 2007

Some facts follow:

  1. There is no point trying to change your complex CSS code so that it works in Netscape
  2. Many institutions like schools and libaries use Netscape 4.

thus the solution is to hide the code from those browsers.

Netscape 4 does recognise linked external files that contain CSS.

but it does not recognise imported. so instead of linking

e.g <link rel=”stylesheet” href=”mystyle.css” mce_href=”mystyle.css” type=”text/css”/> 

to import it and hiding it in practice you can do

<style type=”text/css” media=”all”> 

@import “mystyle.css”;

</style>
